The subjects of this cabinet photograph were unfortunately left unidentified so there is no story to tell. Nevertheless, the content of the image itself gives it a different kind of value.
While the rifleman in this photograph appears to have been a fine example of a model soldier not to mention a qualified marksman, his wife, with her rather startled expression, upstages the moment in a most amusing and probably unintentional way. In spite of the situation, she has managed to maintain all of the proper primness required of a young Victorian/Edwardian woman.
