One of the more outstanding examples of Victorian-ear photographic hand tinting, this image depicts what appears to be a boy in the Somersetshire Light Infantry (Prince Albert's). The colorization process is dated March 1895 in the image's lower right corner and the reverse side bears detail instructions for the tinting artist. Unfortunately nowhere in the extensive notations does the lad's name appear.
