Lieutenant General Robert Badden-Powell, the defender of Mafeking, graces the cover of Ezra  Read's aptly titled The Mafeking March. His successful defense of Mafeking during a prolonged Boer siege made him one of the standout British heroes of the Anglo-Boer War.  His statue-inspiring reputation as a soldier had been overshadowed by his notoriety od being a founded of the Boy Scouts.
