Private Devenshire Regiment.png

A private of the Devonshire Regiment (possibly the 2nd battalion) was photographed while on home service sometime in the 1890s. He is armed with a Lee-Metford or Lee-Enfield rifle with fixed bayonet. He wears a home service pattern blue cloth helmet with the 1881 pattern helmet plate. His seven-button tunic is of the 1881 pattern with white facings. He wears his 1882 Valise pattern buff leather equipment in a variation of light arching order. He has pared it down to his waist belt, ammunition pouches, and bayonet/frog.
