Two young boys costumed for what must have been a celebration of the Relief of Mafeking during the Anglo-Boer War in 1900.
These two lads wear what could be described as clown costumes made from Union Jacks topped off with an Imperial yeomanry-styled slouch hat the side brim of each being held in place by a Baden Powell pin back and ribbon rosette. One wonders exactly how they may have felt being outfitted in this manner.
