An early tinted image of a member of the London Scottish Rifle Volunteer Corps which was first raised in 1859. The image dates from around the mid-1860s and illustrates with the help of the hand-tinting, some interesting details of the Corps uniform. This includes the blue tape across the chest of the uniform coat, blue facings at the collar, cuffs, and blue stripes along the outside seams of the trousers. The uniform was overall Hodden gray. The cuff braiding appears to have been primarily white with a smaller accent of blue piping along its edges.
