An interesting original example of a British Anglo-Boer War political cartoon by artist Charles K. Cook. It appears that old John Bull, here shown in the guise of a British naval rating, is in for a bit of a painfully rude surprise by the seeming harmless, almost imp-like little Boer.
A finely done and detailed gouache illustration, little has come to light regarding Cook, who seems to have been a British-born artist that specialized in book and postcard illustration during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
