A splendid portrait of an early 20th Century Ottoman cavalry trooper or artilleryman. His brown uniform seems to match the type worn during the Balkan War of 1912-1913. He is armed with a 1905 Turkish Mauser carbine and sword.
Earlier images are almost non-existent for anyone other than high-ranking officers and nobility.
The mount bears the generic "Cabinet Portrait" label - in English - that is so commonly encountered on these types of photographs that originate in Eastern Europe.
