The subjects of this photograph are identified on the reverse side as Sergent Biquet of the Troupes Coloniale and a woman who seems to be his Malagasy wife. She is named but difficult to read. The inscription does state that she belonged to the Betsimisaraka ethnic group of eastern Madagascar.
No additional information regarding the subjects of this photo has been found.
