With three stars on the right cuff of his cotton rayadillo uniform tunic, this Spanish officer appears to have held the rank of coronel in  a regular infantry regiment. The rayadillo uniform was of blue pinstriped white cotton and was worrn by all ranks. His head gear consists of a salacot or tropical helmet. No regimental insignia is visible on his uniform.

The sitter left a rather long, signed  inscription on the photograph's lower front half. His name appears to be Alejondro Lesma. Searches under that name and variations have failed to turn up any information.

This officer probably saw service to the Moroccan campaigns of  1910-1914.
