Nineteenth Century photographs form Australia and New Zealand are quite scarce and it is not until the Boer
War-era that they seem to become more commonplace. Perhaps was simply a matter of the remoteness of the
Subcontinent that has caused the apparent paucity of early military photographic images from the region.
