An unidentified Canadian militiaman photographed sometime in the early 1870's. Being precise with this image has been difficult. His
belt buckle appears to be of a very plain general service variation with a crown in the center but without the usually seen motto. His cuff
braid appears to date to the early 1870 period. The fact that no badges of any sort are to be seen on his tunic lends to him being a
member of the militia as opposed to a member of a British battalion stationed in Canada during the same time period.
