Inscribed on the reverse to his grandmother from Borneo and dated January 8, 1904 by a soldier who appears to
have been named Andrew Rape (see below). It is possible that this man was a member of one the regular British
military units stationed in the Straights Settlements or possibly employed in the local forces of the North Borneo
Chartered Company. It is possible that he was an American though based upon the chosen language of the
inscription I have ruled out the possibility of him being Dutch. I have been unable to find any military records of any
nationality under the name of Andrew Rape. Regardless this gentleman did choose an interesting prop to be
photographed with.
