| An Indian Havildar or Sergeant. The photograph appears to be taken by an amature photographer someplace in India. The photographer's shadow can be seen in the foreground. A pencil notation on the reverse states simply "Our Havildar" The soldier is still armed with a Martini-Henry rifle which would tend to place the image prior to the turn of the 20th Century.
