| An unidentified Sergeant of what may be a fusilier regiment with his family and pet dog. My assumtion of his regimental affiliation is based upon the bursting grenade device on his collar and cap and the written, semi-circular title on his shoulder strap. The grenade could indicate membership in the Royal Engineers or Artillery but those services used initials - "RE" and RA" on the shoulder straps. While the shoulder title in this image is unreadable it's style suggests a regular line infantry regiment. The Sergeant wears and additional unidentified device above his rank chevrons as well as two unidentified medal ribbons on his chest. Cabinet Photograph H Browning & Son - Photographer India c. 1900 |
