Gunner Sida of the Royal Artillery is pictured here seated with an unidentified member of the 17th lancers. This
photograph must date from late 1879 to 1881 since the 17th Lancers arrived in Mhow, India in late 1879
immediately after the close of the Anglo-Zulu War where they had served and made their famous charge at Ulundi.
The 17th moved to Lucknow in 1882.
Gunner Sida had the unfortunate fate to die from being kicked off a horse at "Mihow" on 3 July, 1893.
