A rare image of a veteran Gurkha Rifleman. While his regimental number is obscure, he is none the less a veteran
of more than a few campaigns.

He wears two campaign medals most likely the 1854 and 1895 India General Service Medals with what appear to
be no less than five clasps.

Standing smartly for the photographer this proud soldier is armed with the Martini Henry rifle - which he is barely
taller than. He could not have stood more than a few inches taller than four feet. It is very doubtful if his diminutive
size detracted from his fighting ability.
