| A seated sergeant of military police and two lance corporals on the South Atlantic island of St Helena sometime around 1900. While these soldier's regiment can not be determined some interesting details are visible. The sergeant has a lit cigarette in his right hand. Also what appear to be snaps are visible on the chevron and long service stripe of the lance corporal on the right. Quite often while on foreign service soldiers would pin their stripes on their uniforms by various means which I believe was done to simplify the laundering process. Cabinet Photograph A. L.
