Great Grandfather Maurice Early Jones who served in the Cape Mounted Rifles and his son - Mr. Taylor's Grandfather
William Allan Jones of the 11th light Horse Regiment, Australian Imperial Force.

The medal roll for the 1877-79 South Africa Medal shows a Private Maurice Jones, Cape Mounted Rifles being entitled to
that medal with the "1877-8" for the campaign against the Gaikas and Galekas.

Maurice Jones emigrated to Australia after his military service and raised a family. He died at the ago of 90.

He also served with the 10th  Mobile Veterinary Section.

According to the The Australian Light Horse Studies
Centre, Jones was a 24 year old stockman from
Rockhampton, Queensland. He enlisted on 4 January 1915.
At the conclusion of the war returned to on Australia, 26
July 1919.
