| Though his regiment is unidentified this soldier is as evidenced by his medals a veteran of the Anglo-Boer War. Her wears the Queen's South Africa Medal with four bars and the King's with its usual two. Impeccably dressed in his tropical whites it is interesting to note that he wears both of his campaign medals with the reverse side to the fore and the sovereign's portrait hidden from view. He wears two long service stripes on his cuff which rests on the hallmark of just about every photo taken in India at this time - a leopard skin.
