Taken sometime around 1866 this bandsman was a member of the 14th Regiment of Foot. He wears a white variation of the
1858 pattern tunic and has a single good conduct stripe above his right cuff. On the same sleeve he wears a single gold
chevron. A single
white chevron would generally be thought to represent an appointed Lance Corporal but I have not found
any reference to a single gold chevron although perhaps gold was used in place of white on the like coloured tunic.
